JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Baseball right-handed pitcher Nick Anello has been named to the 2025 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award Midseason Watch List, the organization announced Wednesday.
Anello is one of just 56 relievers in NCAA Division I baseball to earn a spot on the midseason list, which honors the top bullpen arms in the nation. Now in its 20th year, the Stopper of the Year Award is presented annually to college baseball's most outstanding relief pitcher.
Through 15 appearances this season, Anello holds a 3.24 ERA and a 1-1 record, while converting eight saves. In 16.2 innings pitched, he has allowed just 13 hits and six earned runs, striking out 18 and holding opponents to a .217 batting average. His consistent ability to deliver in late-inning situations has made him a go-to option out of the bullpen for the Dolphins.
"Nick pitches with passion and purpose every time he's on the mound," said Head Coach Chris Hayes. "He attacks the zone, embraces pressure, and has been a real difference-maker for us late in games."
Anello is one of several standout relievers representing 21 different conferences across the country on the midseason list.
Finalists for the Stopper of the Year Award will be announced on June 4, with the winner named during the College World Series on June 13.
