Jacksonville Unveils Fall Slate For Men’s Rowing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Jacksonville men's rowing program released its fall slate of races and key events. The schedule includes multiple marquee races and a handful of notable events around the program as the Dolphins prepare for a massive 2025-26 campaign.

"I'm very much looking forward to being busy this fall," head coach Preston Weinard said. "The standards are higher, the expectations are greater, and this team is rising to the occasion."

Jacksonville kicks off the fall slate of action Oct. 4 with The JAX CHASE, the Dolphins intra squad race at JU. A week later, the Dolphins will travel north Oct. 18-19  for their biggest opportunity of the fall: The Head of the Charles.

The Head of the Charles is the biggest regatta in the world, with thousands of athletes from around the world shipping up to Boston to compete. The Dolphins will travel a top four-man crew up for the race.

"I'm especially excited for JU Men's Rowing to make a return to the Head of the Charles," Weinard said. "Our program has not attended the regatta in nine years, and our team is excited to see JU on the Charles River once again."

Jacksonville's women's program will also be competing at the regatta, sending a crew for the first time since 2021.

The Dolphins will return from Massachusetts for a weekend full of Homecoming festivities. Jacksonville hosts its annual Row Across Florida event October 24 before welcoming back its alumni for the Alumni Row Oct. 25.

Jacksonville returns to intercollegiate competition the next week when it travels south to Daytona Beach, Florida for the Florida Fall Invite. The Dolphins will face Florida Tech, Stetson and host Embry-Riddle for intrastate dominance.

"Our whole team will race against Florida rivals to put a final stamp on the fall semester and see how our training and technique development has paid off," Weinard said.

The fall concludes with a final test of strength in Jacksonville's second Duathlon squad fitness of the semester. As the Dolphins look to build for a promising competition season in the spring, they'll push themselves to the limit.
