JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the third time this season, Jacksonville senior defender
Millie Urquhart has been named the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Urquhart's honor is the fourth total of her career. After JU's 2-0 win over Miami (Fla.), Urquhart was honored as the league's top defender of the week. She was awarded once again after Jacksonville's 6-0 win over Warner (Fla.). And this week, the Scotland native was once again awarded after JU's 1-1 draw at Queens.
Urquhart scored Jacksonville's lone goal in
its road draw in Charlotte, punching in a rebound ricochet off a
Paula Herranz penalty kick to tie the game . It was her first goal of the season which gave Jacksonville its first road tie of the year after previously being winless in road contests. She started and played 77 minutes, scoring on her lone shot on goal attempt in the match.
After the draw against Queens, the Dolphins moved to 1-0-2 in ASUN play and 3-3-4 overall. Jacksonville's previously scheduled game at West Florida on Sunday
was moved to Oct. 15 due to weather.
The weekly honor was the fifth such honor for the 'Phins from the ASUN so far this season.
The Dolphins are next back in action down in DeLand, Florida on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. against the Stetson Hatters. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
