JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville junior goalkeeper
Taylor Gardner was named the ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week
on Monday for helping propel the Dolphins to a 2-0 win over rival UNF this past weekend.
Gardner's award is her second of the season following when she was named Goalkeeper of the Week after JU's 2-0 historic opening night win over Miami.
This time to close the season, Gardner pitched another shutout. She made three saves across a full 90 minutes of action, putting together her third clean sheet of the season and first in ASUN play. The win moved Gardner to 3-3-1 in ASUN play across her first season as a Dolphin.
Behind the gloves of Gardner, Jacksonville saw itself to the postseason in style. Saturday's win was the first shutout win over UNF since 2023, and the first time ever that Jacksonville had beaten UNF twice in one season.
The Dolphins clinched the ASUN's #5 overall seed and will head to host FGCU on Thursday to take on #4 West Florida. Last time Gardner squared off with the Argonauts, she made a career-high nine saves.
