Rippeon Earns ASUN Defensive Player of Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Jacksonville junior faceoff specialist Drew Rippeon earned the Atlantic Sun's Defensive Player of the Week honors after another dominant week at the stripe for the Dolphins.

Rippeon was efficient with his reps, winning 11 of his 14 faceoffs in a 20-2 win over Le Moyne, good for a 78.6% winning percentage on the day. He grabbed eight ground balls in the process as well, his third-straight game with at least eight ground balls.

The Dolphins have been elite as a faceoff unit, with Rippeon leading the way. He's won 60% of his draws through three weeks, including 56% against No. 18 Rutgers and 52% against No. 6 North Carolina and a first-team All-American faceoff specialist.

Rippeon is building off of a strong sophomore season that saw him win 54.5% of his draws. He earned Second Team All-ASUN honors and won two ASUN Player of the Week awards. His win today is the third weekly award of his JU career.

Through three weeks of the season, Rippeon leads all starters in the ASUN in faceoff winning percentage and he's second amongst all players in ground balls per game.

This week he and the Dolphins will have another top test, traveling to face the No. 7 Duke Blue Devils. Opening faceoff is slated for 12 PM, and the game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
