JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Atlantic Sun Conference recognized juniors Conner Spelman and Jonah Shields as members of the All-ASUN Preseason Team, an honor voted on by the league's head coaches. Spelman earned the honor at designated hitter, while Shields was recognized in the outfield.
Shields is coming off a standout 2025 campaign, where he led Jacksonville in both batting average and hits and emerged as one of the ASUN's most consistent offensive threats. The 2027 graduate ranked sixth in the league with a .359 average and eighth with 75 hits, adding 36 RBIs, 24 stolen bases, and a .442 on-base percentage over 54 games.
In addition to the league's preseason honor, Shields was also selected to Perfect Game's ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team.
Defensively, Shields will make the move from second base to center field this spring.
Spelman has been a steady presence at the plate for Jacksonville. The three-year letterwinner hit .302 last season, collecting 19 hits in 63 at-bats with three home runs and a double. ALong the way, he added eight RBIs and scored eight runs, while reaching base safely in 14 of his 21 appearances. The 6-foot-4 junior looks to continue making an impact at the plate this season.
With Shields and Spelman leading the way, Jacksonville returns key offensive pieces as it prepares for the 2026 campaign. The Dolphins open the year on February 13, continuing preparations for another competitive spring in the Atlantic Sun.Â
