JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- After 282 days of waiting, training and preparing, Jacksonville women's lacrosse is back this week. The Dolphins will open their 17th lacrosse season Saturday at noon against the CampbelL Camels.
Jacksonville had a strong 2025 season, winning the regular season ASUN Championship with a 10-6 overall record. Things didn't end the way the Dolphins wanted, though, as JU fell in the ASUN Semifinals to Coastal Carolina.
This year, Jacksonville returns seven of its eight leading scorers from a year ago, an All-American draw specialist, and the ASUN's preseason Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the year.
The road to a 10th ASUN championship and a return to the NCAA Tournament, though, starts Saturday.
The Match-Up
Opponent: Campbell
Head Coach: Dawn Easley (13th)
2025 Record: 3-12
Players To Watch: D Hailey Kohlmann, A McKenna Duncan, GK Helen Bartman
Campbell has been a strong program in the Big South for much of the last decade and now play in the CAA. The Camels had a challenging 2025, posting a 3-12 record in their maiden CAA season.
This year, Campbell brings a young team to the field. Defender Hailey Kohlmann, a preseason All-CAA Honorable Mention, is one of the few veteran leaders looking to turn the Camels around this season.
One Key Stat
Opening Day Wins: Four
Jacksonville has historically played a murderer's row for the opening game of the regular season, including last year's tilt against No. 3 Michigan. However, the Dolphins have won on opening day four times.
In each of those seasons, Jacksonville went on to win the ASUN Tournament and reach the NCAA Tournament. All three of the Dolphins NCAA Tournament victories happened to come in seasons where JU won the opening game of the season.
