Cuddy, Hodgin Headline Preseason All-ASUN Plaudits

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Atlantic Sun Conference announced its preseason awards ahead of the 2026 women's lacrosse season, and the nine-time conference champion Jacksonville Dolphins received several of the league's top honors.

Senior Maggie Cuddy was named the league's preseason Defensive Player of the Year. This is the second-consecutive preseason DPOY for the Dolphins, after Kaila Stasulli earned the honor ahead of the 2025 season.

Cuddy has blossomed into an all-time great defender for Jacksonville. A season ago, she led the team with 43 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers. She earned first-team All-ASUN honors, the second all-conference honor of her career.

She produced some of the best individual games for a Dolphin defender, including two games with at least four ground balls and five caused turnovers. Cuddy played and won silver at the 2025 Pan-American Women's Lacrosse Championship with the Canadian Women's National team this summer.

Senior goalkeeper Brookelynn Hodgin was named the preseason Goalkeeper of the Year. Last season, she won the league's inaugural Goalkeeper of the Year award, capping off a sensational first season in the pipes.

The San Clemente, California, native started all 16 games in between the pipes. She led the ASUN in goals against average (9.38) and finished second in save percentage (44.4%). Hodgin had her best moments in the biggest spots, including a career-high 13 saves in a win over No. 18 Navy.

Five Dolphins were named to the preseason All-ASUN team, as well. In addition to Hodgin and Cuddy, seniors Ainsley Scruggs and Abby Moran and junior Allyx Berry were named to the 14-person all-conference team.

Scruggs earned first-team All-ASUN honors a season ago. She led the team in scoring, finishing with 32 goals and 19 assists for 51 total points. Scruggs was one of the most efficient scorers in the country, scoring on 55.2% of her shots --- 27th best nationally.

Moran is one of the best draw specialists in the country. In addition to her All-ASUN honors, she was named an honorable mention preseason All-American by USA Lacrosse magazine. She's 97 draw controls away from tying the all-time program record.

Berry was named to the All-ASUN first team last season, one of two sophomores to make the team. She scored 19 goals and tallied 10 assists, starting all 16 games a season ago. She also added 18 ground balls and caused nine turnovers. She and Cuddy were named captains for the 2026 season.

Coaches Poll
The Dolphins were pegged second in the preseason conference standings behind reigning champions Liberty. Jacksonville won the regular season conference championship last season before falling to Coastal Carolina in the conference semifinals.
