STATESBORO, Ga. – In the second to last weekend of regular season for Jacksonville track and field, the Dolphins took to the track at Georgia Southern while sprinter
Savannah Chadic competed against the nation's best at the University of Florida.
Up in Georgia, the Dolphins saw great results, led by Guatemalan Olympian
Mariandree Chacon securing first place in the 200 with a time of 23.87. Right behind her was
Kemaj Moore, who took home second with a time of 24.50.
In the 400m hurdles, sprinter
Joy Whittington impressed with a second place finish and a time of 1:02.74.
Taking to the field, it was a trio of Dolphins atop the leaderboard in the long jump. The team's lone freshman
Samaryah White secured first place with a leap of 6.16, followed by
Julia Sue-Kam-Ling (5.76) and
Ma'Kala Davis (5.73).
The first place finish was the first of White's college career and her collegiate best showing in the event in terms of distance.
As for Chadic down in central Florida, the sprinter took home 25
th place in the loaded 400m invite. She finished with a time of 53.03, about half a second off her personal best time set the previous outing at the Pepsi Relays.
Jacksonville has just one more meet on the books, the UNF East Coast Relays, set for May 1-2 before the 'Phins go for gold at the ASUN Outdoor Conference Championships May 14-16.
