Lohr Named Scholar-Athlete Of The Year, Three Total Dolphins Named To Academic All-ASUN Team

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville sophomore men's golfer Brandon Lohr has been named the Atlantic Sun Scholar Athlete of the Year, the league announced Tuesday morning.

Leading the 'Phins not only athletically but academically, Lohr posted a 3.93 GPA in finance. The Orlando native also was named to the Academic All-ASUN list along with teammates Tomas Hjaltested and Daniel Montalvo.

The academic awards are firsts for all three student-athletes while Lohr's Scholar Athlete of the Year distinction is the first for the men's golf program. Jacksonville's academic honors are the first for the school since 2021 and the most total honors in one season in program history.

Lohr finished his sophomore season with a record-setting finish at the ASUN Championship, finishing tied for third in his second season as a 'Phin which was the best finish by a Dolphin since 2023. He also earned ASUN All-Freshman Team honors a season ago.

For Hjaltested and Montalvo, the pair turned in strong seasons in the classroom and on the course. The senior Hjaltested earned a 3.98 GPA in accounting with fellow senior Montalvo earning a 3.60 in psychology. Hjaltested recorded the second-best GPA on the entire team. For Montalvo, he earned ASUN Player of the Week honors after a T-3 finish at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational.
