Lane Named MAAC Coach Of The Year

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Following his seventh championship in his 10th full racing season, Jacksonville Director of Rowing and head women's coach Mike Lane was named the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.

Lane guided the Dolphins back to the conference crown, as JU took first-place in Sunday's championships. Jacksonville finished first in the second and first Varsity Eight to secure the ninth MAAC Championship in school history.

Lane has guided the program to new levels of sustained excellence this season. In addition to the MAAC Trophy, the Dolphins won the overall points trophy at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association regatta this spring for the first time ever.

Jacksonville also showed well at the Knecht Cup Regatta, as the second Varsity Eight earned a bronze medal against several of the country's top programs.

The Dolphins will look to build on a historic season of rowing at next weekend's NCAA Championship Regatta. Under Lane's tutelage, Jacksonville posted the best finish by a MAAC program in history in 2024, placing 21st in the first Varsity Eight.

The weekend of championship racing runs from May 29 through May 31st.
