Dolphins To Compete At NCAA Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- For the ninth time in program history, the Jacksonville Dolphins are headed to the NCAA Championships. The Dolphins will be one of 22 crews competing on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia, as the best crews from around the country go head to head.

Last time JU made the trip to the final regatta of the season, the Dolphins first Varsity Eight posted a 21st place finish, the highest ever by a Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference crew. Now, JU will look to build on that performance with an even stronger showing this year.

The regatta will see a Varsity Four, a second Varsity Eight and a first Varsity Eight compete amongst the top programs in the country. Following a dominant showing at the MAAC Championships, where JU won both eights and finished second in the four, the Dolphins will be running back the same lineup from their conference crown.

The action runs over the course of three days. The opening heats are scheduled throughout the day Friday, with the first Varsity Eight going at 10:12, the second Varsity Eight at 11:00 and Varsity Four at noon.

The first Varsity Eight will compete against Northeastern, Brown, Stanford, Virginia and Columbia in the preliminary heat. The second Varsity Eight goes head to head against Boston, Miami, Virginia, Yale and Oregon State.

In the Varsity Four, the Dolphins will race Oregon State, Rutgers, Tennessee, Syracuse and Massachusetts.

Following Friday's heats, JU's three crews will be placed into semi-finals on Saturday. From there, the Dolphins will compete in finals on Sunday.

The regatta will be streamed on NCAA.com. Results will be tracked on Regatta Timing, which can be found HERE.
