JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville University men's soccer collected two of the Atlantic Sun Conference's opening weekly honors Monday, with Matias Tobon named Player of the Week and Simen Havig selected as Goalkeeper of the Week.
Both Dolphins earned the first weekly conference awards of their careers after leading Jacksonville through a perfect Texas road trip. JU defeated Houston Christian, 2-0, before topping Incarnate Word, 5-1, to begin a season 2-0 for the first time since 2001.
Tobon scored Jacksonville's opening goal in both victories and finished the week with two goals, one assist and five points. The sophomore converted a penalty kick in the 53rd minute at Houston Christian before assisting Mathias Mjaavatn's insurance goal.
Three days later, Tobon struck again in the 24th minute at Incarnate Word, setting the tone for the Dolphins' highest-scoring performance against a Division I opponent since 2021. He scored on each of his two shots during the trip and contributed directly to three of Jacksonville's seven goals.
The 2025 ASUN All-Freshman selection has already produced more than half of the nine points he recorded during his freshman campaign.
Havig played all 180 minutes in goal, earning two victories while allowing just one goal. The junior stopped eight of the nine shots he faced for an .889 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average.
His four-save shutout at Houston Christian secured his first collegiate victory and the second clean sheet of his career. Havig added four saves against Incarnate Word as Jacksonville completed the weekend with a plus-six goal differential.
Tobon is Jacksonville's first ASUN Player of the Week since Tobias Holtan in October 2024. Havig is the program's first Goalkeeper of the Week since Christian Sekanina earned the honor in October 2025. Jacksonville last claimed both awards during the same week on Oct. 15, 2024, when Holtan and Sekanina were recognized.
The Dolphins play their home opener Friday versus Georgia Southern at Southern Oak Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
