GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a battle with 20^th ranked University of Florida, the Jacksonville Dolphins fell, 6-0.

The game was Jacksonville's first ranked matchup under head coach Ryan Moon and the first for the program since 2023. The loss was Jacksonville's first of the season, as the team moved to 1-1-1 overall.

Thursday's game was the first against the Gators in 11 years. At the halftime break, the Gators were up 2-0 after defeating reigning NCAA champion #3 FSU, 3-1, four days prior.

Jacksonville had to play a man down for most of the first half, and the duration of the game, after defender Lina Ballmann was given a red card in the 21^st minute. On the ensuing free kick following the red, Florida scored to push the game to its halftime score. 

The Dolphins lobbed a single shot in the opening 45 minutes courtesy of freshman Ula Omerzu. Omerzu continues to lead the team in shots, with eight on the young season. Florida had eight shots and four total shots on goal. In the net, junior keeper Taylor Gardner had two saves at the stoppage. Florida's opening goal was the first goal allowed by Jacksonville all season and the first by Gardner in a full 180 minutes of action.

At Thursday's halftime break, the Gators hadn't trailed at half across their first three games. The second half found Florida with another goal in the 56^th minute. Florida scored twice in the 65^th minute to push the game to 5-0. 

At Donald R. Dizney Stadium, Jacksonville did get the first appearance of the season for Ragna Magnúsdóttir who played 70 minutes in the place of Ballmann. It was also the second consecutive appearance for Payton Lauer, who played 17 minutes. Freshman Logan Griffin saw her second collegiate game, playing the game's final three minutes. 

Jacksonville stays in the state of Florida for its next game, traveling down to Boca Raton for a tilt against FAU on Thursday, Sep. 3. First kick is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on FAUSports.com.
