JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Jacksonville senior defender Paula Herranz was named to the NCAA Division I Women's Players to Watch list by United Soccer Coaches. This distinction puts her in consideration for the MAC Hermann Trophy, the most prestigious honor in college soccer.

Herranz is the first JU athlete to be recognized since the lists were established ahead of the 2022 season. She is the only ASUN defender named to the list.

The senior from Madrid, Spain, is coming off a stellar first season for the 'Phins. 

Herranz started and played all 19 games in the Jacksonville defense a season ago, helping JU to its winningest season in a decade. She scored one goal and recorded two assists as a defender.

Herranz earned Third-Team All-South Region honors from United Soccer Coaches, joining teammate Alicia Rey Perez as the first Jacksonville players on an All-Region team since 2016. She was named to the All-ASUN second team, as well.

Prior to JU, she was an All-ASUN and ASUN All-Freshman designee during her time at Eastern Kentucky.
