JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Atlantic Sun has released the league's women's soccer schedule, the ASUN announced Friday. The schedule drop revealed Jacksonville University's 10 conference games with the Dolphins kicking off their season on Thursday, Sept. 24.
Jacksonville plays host to Lipscomb in the ASUN opener which pits JU and the Bisons against one another a season after Lipscomb ended Jacksonville's run
in the ASUN Tournament in the semifinals.
Next follows the fourth ever meeting with Bellarmine on Sunday, Sept. 27 at home.
The 'Phins then face five games away from Southern Oak Stadium, also including a bye, before returning ot Duval County on Thursday, Oct. 22. JU hits the road to face Queens (10/1), first-year ASUN member West Florida (10/4), Stetson (10/8), FGCU (10/11) and North Florida (10/18).
For the team's first ever matchup with newcomer West Florida, the Dolphins will travel to Pensacola to face the Argonauts who went 18-1-2 last season, winning the Gulf South Conference Tournament and making it to the NCAA Division 2 Regional before making the jump to Division 1.
Currently Jacksonville rides a three-game win streak over Queens and Stetson and went 1-0-1 against crosstown rival UNF last season. Jacksonville has its bye on Thursday, Oct. 15 before the first edition of the River City Rumble.
Finishing out the year, Jacksonville will square off at home against FGCU (10/22), Stetson (10/25) and North Florida (10/31).
The Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament dates are from Nov. 5 to Nov. 13. Jacksonville has appeared in two consecutive ASUN Tournaments in the team's two years under head coach
Ryan Moon.
Last season, JU boasted a 9-5-5 record and a 6-1-3 conference record, finishing second overall in the Graphite Division behind FGCU. The #2 ranked Dolphins
defeated #3 UNA in penalties in the ASUN Quarterfinals – a year after being defeated in penalties by EKU – to advance to the semis where they drew host school #1 Lipscomb.
