JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the first time in program history, Jacksonville University women's soccer has a student-athlete that has won two Preseason All-ASUN Player of the Year awards.

Senior defender Paula Herranz was named both the ASUN Preseason Player of the Year and ASUN Defender of the Year Monday. She became the first player in program history to earn the distinction for either award, as well as the first player to win two awards in one preseason cycle.

Herranz too was named to the All-ASUN Preseason Team, joined by sophomore forward Julia Delprat. The pair formed part of the key infrastructure that saw Jacksonville to the ASUN Tournament semifinals last season.

Both players earned Preseason All-ASUN honors for the first time in their careers. For Herranz, it adds to a long list of ASUN accolades that includes 2023 All-ASUN Freshman Team and 2024 All-ASUN Third Team with EKU and 2025 All-ASUN Second Team at Jacksonville. 

Delprat and Herranz made up a 12-person Preseason All-ASUN Team, with one extra All-ASUN spot allotted due to a tie in voting by league coaches. 

During the 2025 campaign, Delprat led all JU freshmen with three goals scored and three assists. She scored in her first collegiate game against Edward Waters and picked up a goal in her first ASUN contest against West Georgia. She led all JU freshmen with 675 minutes played across 16 games while making a pair of starts.

As for Herranz, she started all 19 games and logged the third most minutes among Dolphin position players at 1,356. She tallied one goal with two assists, scoring once and assisting once in a win over Stetson. Her offensive prowess against the Hatters as well as helping JU to a 1-0-1 record across games against Stetson and FGCU earned her ASUN Defensive Player of the Week status on Oct. 13.

In terms of the 2026 Preseason Coaches Poll, Jacksonville was picked to finish third in the ASUN, garnering 48 total points and one first place vote. The Dolphins were picked three points ahead of North Florida and six points behind defending champion Lipscomb in second place.

Last week, the Dolphins received even further accolades when they were honored with their second consecutive United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award. Head coach Ryan Moon's program held a program-record 3.69 GPA throughout the school year, helping the women's team to its 11^th all-time national academic award honor.

The Jacksonville Dolphins open the season at home against ACC foe Miami on Wednesday, August 12^th at 7 p.m. The game is free to all who attend.
