JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the first time in modern program history, the Jacksonville men's cross country team has a runner named ASUN Freshman of the Week.

Freshman Madison Carty was named the Freshman of the Week by the league on Monday after a strong showing at Pre-Regionals hosted by FSU on Friday.

Carty placed 127^th as the second highest finishing Dolphin in the race. During his first 8K of his college career, Carty ran a 27:33.8.

Since the ASUN started bestowing the Freshman of the Week honors in 2019, Carty is the first Dolphin to earn the award. He is also the first men's Dolphin to earn any weekly award since the league started Runner of the Week awards in 2001.

Carty and the squad are back in action on Friday, Oct. 2 for the FLRunners.com Invitational down in Lakeland. The men begin their competition at 8:45 a.m.
