JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University (6-8) continues its five-game home stand this weekend against Harvard University (4-0). The Dolphins will host the Crimson in a three day, four-game series that will feature a 6 p.m. Friday start, a doubleheader on Saturday slated for 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., and a Sunday series finale at 1 p.m.
Previously…
Early offense from South Florida hampered Jacksonville's comeback effort on Tuesday, and the Ospreys escaped John Sessions Stadium with an extra innings win on Wednesday after the Dolphins led in the ninth.
Scouting the Opponent
The all-time series is knotted up at two wins apiece in four meetings between Jacksonville and Harvard. The Crimson won the first game at JU way back in 1978, and then JU took two of three in a weekend series at Sessions Stadium in 2006. The Dolphins have yet to play Harvard in a neutral site game or in Cambridge, Mass.
The Crimson are 4-0 this season in their fourth year under The Joseph J. O'Donnell '67 Head Coach for Harvard Baseball Bill Decker, their best start in Decker's tenure and the best start since 1986. Ian Miller, who will go toe-to-toe with JU's Chris Gau in the first game on Saturday, leads the nation in ERA with a 0.00, and Matt Rothenberg paces the country in OBP at .692. The Crimson have outscored their opponents 39-6 so far this season.
On Deck
The Dolphins head west to face Florida A&M in Tallahassee on Tuesday, and meet UCF in Orlando on Friday before hosting the Knights on Saturday and Sunday.
