Women's Lacrosse Welcomes Nine to 2021 Recruiting Class

Tha Jacksonville University women's lacrosse program, led by head coach Mindy McCord, has announced the signing of nine student-athletes who will join the program in the fall of 2021.

"We have identified a group of young women and families who are a perfect fit for JU women's lacrosse. We are extremely passionate about developing and teaching young players life and lacrosse skills that will translate to success on and off the field. This is a class of extremely dedicated students who excel in the classroom while being at the top of their game to lead their respective high school and club teams. We truly have some of the very best high school lacrosse players nationally coming to JU. This is a class that adds tremendous athleticism and depth to our program. They will elevate our team with their strong competitive natures and their desire to be their very best. These young women will contribute to our mission of being the best place to play lacrosse and competing for championships."  
 
Kaila Stasulli | Defense | Severna Park, MD

"Kaila was a player we instantly wanted to be a part of our program. She is a tough defensive player with incredible footwork. Kaila is patient and disciplined with her body position and is disruptive when she makes contact on the body. Her tremendous speed and game IQ will bring great value to our defensive unit and transition game. She has the confidence to demand the ball and control it between the 30's. We are excited to have her join us in the fall of 2021."
 
Bailey Broadbent | Attack | Jefferson, Maryland

"Bailey has a nose for the goal. She is a dominant offensive player who brings creativity to the game. Her change of direction and speed separates her from her opponents. It is evident the love for the game Bailey possesses by her work ethic outside of her normal practice hours. We are excited to see her make a splash at Jacksonville!"
 
Brynn Hoffman | Defense | Middletown, Maryland

"Brynn is going to be a terrific defensive player for us - she has had previous midfield experience which will make her a threat entering our offensive third. Brynn brings physicality, length, and leadership to our program. I am excited to watch Brynn shut down offensive threats and disrupt opponents with her physicality. Brynn fits perfectly into our defensive scheme and is a terrific addition to our unit."
 
Miya Scanlan | Attack | Perrysburg, New York
  • High School | Gowanda Central High School
  • Outside of lacrosse Miya plays varsity basketball & volleyball.
  • Miya's older sister Shayla plays lacrosse at Louisville.
  • Accolades | NYS record holder for most goals in a game (16 goals), All-WNY First Team, 1st Team All-Star Under Armour Upstate, WNY Roc for the National Tournament. 
  • Scanlan not only dominates on the lacrosse field but on the basketball court collecting 1,000 career points in her time at Gowanda Central High School.

"We are very excited to welcome Madison, a standout midfielder, to our program in 2021. She is fleet of foot & explosive on both ends of the field. Offensively, she is exceptional at creating separation from her defenders. Defensively, she is poised, patient and establishes excellent, controlled body contact. This Maryland native has a competitive switch that is second to none. We cannot wait for her to arrive in Jacksonville!"
 
Madelyn Orefice | Midfield | Cherry Hill, New Jersey

  • Outside of lacrosse plays Soccer
  • In high school, Maddy was 1st Team All-Conference in 2018 & 2019. She was also Top-75 Freshmen in NJ 2018, Top-75 Sophomore in NJ 2019, Offensive MVP for Cherry Hill High School 2018, and played on the 2019 WPLL Futures NJ Team.
  • Maddy scored 100 goals her sophomore year.
  • Intended major at Jacksonville | Undecided 
 
"Maddy is a dynamic two-way midfielder who will have an immediate impact on our program. She is an amazing athlete and is a true asset in her ability to read the game. Maddy has great length, soft hands, and explosive change of direction. Her work ethic and dedication to the sport will prepare her to compete at the highest level. We look forward to watching Maddy and former club teammate, Alex Kulinski (JU class of 2021) excel as a dynamic duo on our draw unit.  We welcome Maddy with open arms to our program!!!"
 
Alexandra Kulinski | Midfield | Marlton, New Jersey

  • Accolades | Top 75 Freshmen in NJ, Top 75 Sophomore in NJ, 2019 All-Conference, 2019 Under Armour 150, 2019 NJ School Girls Team. Alex has also collected the following field hockey awards - 2nd Team All-Conference 2019, 1st Team All-Conference 2020, 1st Team All-County 2020, 1st Team All-South Jersey 2020, All-State Team 2020, & broke the Cherokee High School all time goal and assist record.

"Brooke 'Speed Demon' DeMaggio is one of the fastest players in the game. Her transition speed is second to none and her overall defensive footwork is exceptional. She is a fierce competitor on the field and we are excited to watch her excel as she is one of the most positive and hard working athletes out there. Brooke fits our defensive mold to a tee. She is confident in her ability to test her pressure range defensively and utilizes her speed to recover into the 8 meter. Her freshman year cannot come soon enough!"
 
Jenelle Bennardo | Attack | Greenlawn. New York

  • Jenelle's sister (Tiana) played soccer at West Virginia Wesleyan University and her brother (Connor) plays lacrosse at Detroit Mercy.

"Jenelle is a shifty, aggressive, and sneaky offensive player. She is determined to get to the goal. When you watch her play you will notice her stickwork. She is poised, in control, and has a wicked high to low shot. Jenelle has a terrific work ethic and is the ultimate team player. We know any task that is given to her she will put her best foot forward to help achieve our team goals. We are excited to add her to the offensive side of the ball!"
