ORLANDO, Fla. - The Jacksonville women's cross country team well exceeded expectations placed by the ASUN coming into the year, as senior Hayleigh Palotti earned a second-place finish, while the Dolphins placed fourth overall.
Palotti's 16:59 time earned her First Team All-Conference and breaks the Dolphins' all-time 5K record that was set almost a decade ago. Two more Dolphins placed in the top 20 in this race, freshmen Emma Sullivan and Madison Jones earned spots on the ASUN's All-Freshmen Team with their race as well as 6th and 9th all-time in the Dolphin's record books.
Completing a successful year filled with adversity, Coach Ron Grigg had all positive messages today, "It was an emotional day. I am so very proud of each member of our roster for their contribution. Even those that weren't in our scoring five, or those that didn't make it to the start line today have had a positive impact on this result."
The Dolphins will look to take this momentum into the next coming weeks as they have NCAA regionals in Huntsville, Alabama on November 12th.
