DELAND, Fla. – The Jacksonville University beach volleyball team was back in the sand at the Cooper Beach Volleyball Courts at Stetson University Friday morning for opening round action at the 2021 ASUN Conference Beach Volleyball Championships. The seventh-seeded Dolphins (2-19-1) battled the two seed Ospreys (20-9) in all five duels during the match but fell by a score of 5-0.
JU's 5s pair of
Kaitlyn Sereda and
Madison Dagenhart turned in a strong effort opposite the Ospreys but were downed in straight sets.
In 2s action,
Giao Huynh and
Olivia Szyszkiewicz gave UNF just about all they could handle in set one before falling in straight sets. The Dolphins' 3s pair of
Rina Mitchell and
Hannah Edelman went down to the wire in with North Florida in both sets in some of the closest action of the match but fell by scores of 21-18 and 21-17.
Morgan Dees and
Shaylee Befus bounced back in set two in their 1s matchup after the Ospreys took set one and put on a stellar show, but a late surge by UNF led them to a 21-19 win to take the duel in straight sets.
Jacksonville will be back in action bright and early Saturday morning against either FGCU or North Alabama at 8 AM.
