FORT MYERS, Fla. – Jacksonville University beach volleyball split its two matches on Saturday at The ROC, sweeping Sam Houston, 5-0, before falling to FGCU, 4-1.
Taylor Becomes Program Leader at No. 4
Kate Taylor made program history in Jacksonville's opening match of the day. With a straight-set victory alongside
Morgan Perry at the No. 4 flight, Taylor recorded her 16th career win at the four position, surpassing former Dolphin Kristina Nika for the most in program history.
Taylor entered the season with eight wins at the No. 4 flight and now stands alone atop the program record book.
Dolphins Sweep Sam Houston
Jacksonville opened the day with a dominant 5-0 win over Sam Houston, winning all five scoring courts.
Claire Mrukowski and
Megan Hair earned a straight-set victory at the No. 1 flight, 21-18, 21-11, while
Breanna McDonough and
Meredith Mrukowski secured a three-set win at No. 2, 21-16, 19-21, 15-6.
Avery Kleithermes and
Jamie Seward followed with a convincing 21-11, 21-13 win at the No. 3 spot before Perry and Taylor clinched the dual with a 21-10, 21-15 victory at No. 4.
Maddie Fielder and
Katie Martinez completed the sweep with a straight-set win at the No. 5 flight, 21-13, 21-8.
FGCU Takes Afternoon Match
In the afternoon matchup, FGCU claimed a 4-1 victory.
Perry and Taylor provided Jacksonville's lone point, earning a straight-set win at the No. 4 flight, 21-18, 21-17.
