JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University beach volleyball opened the River City Invitational with a pair of wins Friday at Dolphin Beach, sweeping Wingate, 5-0, before defeating Palm Beach Atlantic, 4-1 on Senior Weekend.

Dolphins Sweep Wingate

Jacksonville opened the day with a dominant 5-0 victory over Wingate, winning all five scoring courts in straight sets.

Claire Mrukowski and Megan Hair set the tone at the No. 1 flight with a 21-10, 21-12 win, while Meredith Mrukowski and Avery Kleithermes followed with a decisive 21-11, 21-7 victory at No. 2.

Jamie Seward and Hayden Garnett added another straight-set win at No. 3, 21-9, 21-11, before Morgan Perry and Kate Taylor secured the fourth point at No. 4, 21-13, 21-18.

Katie Martinez and Kye Swink completed the sweep with a 21-8, 21-9 victory at the No. 5 flight.

Jacksonville Tops Palm Beach Atlantic

In the afternoon match, the Dolphins earned a 4-1 win over Palm Beach Atlantic.

Mrukowski and Hair picked up their second win of the day at No. 1, battling to a three-set victory, 21-9, 17-21, 15-9. Meredith Mrukowski and Kleithermes followed with a straight-set win at No. 2, 21-18, 21-18.

Perry and Taylor added another point at No. 3, rallying for a three-set victory, 15-21, 21-19, 15-12, before Martinez and Maddie Fielder secured the fourth point with a 21-12, 21-11 win at the No. 5 position.

Jacksonville will conclude the River City Invitational on Saturday against Florida Southern at 8 a.m. and Palm Beach Atlantic at 2:30 p.m. Senior Day festivities start at 1:30.
