FORT MYERS, Fla. – Jacksonville University beach volleyball split its two matches on Friday at The ROC, sweeping Palm Beach State, 5-0, before falling to Florida International, 5-0.
Dolphins Sweep Palm Beach State
Jacksonville opened the day with a dominant performance, winning all five scoring courts in a 5-0 victory over Palm Beach State.
Claire Mrukowski and
Megan Hair set the tone at the No. 1 flight with a straight-set win, 21-14, 21-12. At No. 2,
Breanna McDonough and
Meredith Mrukowski followed with a 21-10, 21-19 victory.
Avery Kleithermes and
Jamie Seward secured the third point in a three-set battle, 21-14, 16-21, 15-11, before
Morgan Perry and Katie Taylor clinched the dual with a decisive 21-10, 21-9 win at the No. 4 spot.
Katie Martinez and Maddie Fielder completed the sweep at No. 5, rallying for a three-set victory, 16-21, 21-16, 15-9.
FIU Tops Jacksonville in Second Match
In the afternoon matchup, FIU claimed a 5-0 win over the Dolphins.
Jacksonville battled in several tight contests, including a three-set match on court four, but the Panthers secured all five scoring courts to take the dual.
