LEXINGTON, Ky. – The United States Marine Corps (USMC) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced their 2020-21 Team Academic Awards on Monday afternoon, and both the Jacksonville University indoor and beach volleyball teams were recognized for their achievements in the classroom. This is the third consecutive year JU has received the award and the eighth and ninth awards overall bestowed upon the Dolphin volleyball programs.
 
During the course of the academic year, the beach volleyball team posted a cumulative 3.818 GPA, headlined by a trio of ASUN All-Academic honorees in Shaylee Befus, Morgan Dees and Giao Huynh, while the indoor team posted a cumulative 3.612 GPA. 21 student-athletes from the two squads were named to the ASUN Honor Roll announced last week.
 
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
