JACKSONVILLE, Fla --- The 2026 season marked a turning point for Jacksonville University Beach Volleyball. The Dolphins raised the standard of the program with a historic year filled with milestones, record-breaking performances and postseason breakthroughs.
Jacksonville finished the season with 17 wins, setting a new program record for wins in a single season just two years after establishing the previous mark with 15 victories in 2024. Under head coach Dylan Hough, who took over the program in 2021, the Dolphins continued their upward trajectory by reaching the ASUN Tournament semifinals for the first time in program history and earning the program's first-ever opening round victory at the conference tournament.
Jacksonville earned its first wins in program history over both North Alabama and FIU, while also putting together a six-match winning streak, the longest streak since the program's inception in 2012.
The Dolphins saw success throughout the lineup, led by one of the strongest collections of pairs in school history.
The pairing of Morgan Perry and Katie Martinez totaled 20 wins together, tied for the second most by a pair in a single season in program history. Perry also set a new program benchmark at the No. 4 flight with 17 wins, the most ever recorded at that position.
At the top of the lineup, Megan Hair and Claire Mrukowski delivered one of the best seasons by a No. 1 pair in school history, finishing with 18 victories together; the second most wins ever by Jacksonville's top flight pairing.
Hair put together a historic freshman campaign, recording 18 wins to set a new freshman single-season program record. Fellow freshman Maddie Fiedler also made an immediate impact with 17 victories, the second most wins by a freshman in school history. Fiedler and Martinez combined for 17 wins at the No. 5 flight, setting another new program standard.
Jacksonville's veteran leaders continued to climb the record books throughout the season. Mrukowski became just the fifth player in program history to reach 50 career wins, while Martinez moved into third all-time in career victories with 55. Kate Taylor added her name to the record book as the program's all-time leader in wins at the No. 4 flight with 24 career victories, while Martinez became the career wins leader at the No. 5 position with 26.
The Dolphins also earned recognition beyond competition. Jacksonville placed six student-athletes on the ASUN All-Academic Team, the most in program history. Hough's track record of producing not only great athletes but great people continues to prove correct.Â
Individually, Hair became the first player in Jacksonville history to earn both ASUN All-Conference and ASUN All-Freshman honors in the same season, while Martinez was named ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the first Dolphin to earn the distinction since 2013.
While the season ended in the ASUN semifinals, the 2026 campaign established a new foundation for Jacksonville beach volleyball. The 2026 team's role in rewriting the history book will be remembered and reflected upon for years to come. They've set a new standard on what it means to play for the Dolphin program, and how to come together as a team. Moving forward, the Dolphins have established a new standard for the program, one that expects continued growth and continued success.
