Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C- Jacksonville University volleyball dropped in a dramatic five sets by Queens Saturday evening in Curry Arena.
SET ONE
The Royals led most of the set, started early with a 10-4 lead. The Dolphins fought their way back to get within two points 16-18. The marathon continued with the Dolphins staying in range of the Royals 23-24. But Queens finished set one 25-23.
SET TWO
Queens led early set two with a 7-3 lead. A kill from Lyric Love sparked energy for the Dolphins. The two programs traded points but a block from Haley Hart put Jacksonville up by one 11-10. Another kill from Love extended the Dolphins lead 15-13. Jenna McNamara drives one to the floor continuing the lead. The Royals went on a 3-0 run taking the lead by two 19-17. Queens took off set two 25-22.
SET THREE
The two programs traded points early again in set three. Love and Hart added to the kill column helping the Dolphins extend their lead by one 13-12. The Royals taking advantage of the Dolphins mistakes, Queens extended their lead by four. The Dolphins regained momentum taking set three 25-21.
SET FOUR
The Royals started with a 3-0 scoring run with the lead 7-5. Queens extended their lead by four 13-9. The Royals kept the momentum going and looked in rhythm 19-14. A kill from Jenna McNamara and a block from Lyric Love and Myah Robinson gets the Dolphins within three. A block from Haley Hart put Jacksonville down by one 20-19, forcing the Royals to take a timeout. Haley Hart went on a blocking spree putting the Dolphins up by one 24-23. The Dolphins finished off set four 25-23.
SET FIVE
Haley Hart had a phenomenal fifth set, scoring four kills within minutes extending the lead by two 6-4. The Royals regained momentum and took the lead 12-7. Queens clinched the fifth set 15-8.
Haley Hart recorded a season high with 23 kills. Jenna McNamara collected 14 kills, and both Lyric Love and Julia De Sa with 12. Rebecca Rocassin with 58 assists and Kariana Ayala Drew collected 26 digs.
The Dolphins return home next Friday to take on Kennesaw State at 4pm.
