Jacksonville, Fla. - The Jacksonville Beach Volleyball program opened day one of the UNF Invitational splitting contests with Nebraska and FIU Saturday.
In their opening match of the day, the Dolphins defeated Nebraska, 3-2. The Green and White duos of
Shaylee Befus and
Olivia Szyszkiewicz (1's),
Sydney Eckhardt and
Emily Kubicsko (2's), and
Anna Dunbar and
Miller Reames (4's) all clinched victories for Jacksonville. The defeat of the Cornhuskers was the first for JU over a Power Five opponent since 2016, when the Dolphins defeated South Carolina, 5-0.
In the nightcap, the Dolphins were defeated by #17 Florida International, 5-0.
Jacksonville returns to the courts tomorrow for day two of the UNF Invitational. The Dolphins face Mercer at 10 AM before battling River City Rumble foe North Florida at 12 PM.
