TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Jacksonville Beach Volleyball faced a stiff test on Saturday at the FSU Tournament, falling 5-0 to No. 8 LMU before coming up just short in another tight battle with Southern Miss, 3-2.
The Dolphins opened the day against one of the nation's top teams in LMU, competing tightly across multiple courts against the No. 8 Lions. Jacksonville challenged early, particularly at the top flights, but LMU ultimately used its depth to secure the sweep.
In the afternoon, the Dolphins responded with a much stronger showing, pushing Southern Miss to the brink for the second straight day.
Megan Hair and
Claire Mrukowski set the tone at the No. 1 spot, grinding out a three-set win, 18-21, 21-16, 15-8.
Morgan Perry and
Kate Taylor followed with another clutch performance at No. 4, bouncing back after dropping the second set to take the decider, 15-12.
With the dual hanging in the balance, Southern Miss claimed the remaining courts in tightly contested matches, including multiple three-set decisions, to secure the 3-2 victory.
