SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Jacksonville University men's golf is now T8 overall, with two Dolphins in the top-10 of the leaderboard through two rounds in play at Carolina Country Club.
Alexandre Vandermoten stayed steady heading into his second round, shooting par from holes 1-6. On the next hole, Vandermoten suffered a small setback, bogeying the Par-4 7th. He quickly bounced back and shot par the next two holes, putting him at a total of +1 after the front nine. Vandermoten finished the back nine shooting par on seven of the nine holes, finishing +3 on the day. Vandermoten is now T3 on Par 3s and Par 4s in the tournament. He is also second in pars with 27, behind fellow Dolphin Will Harris, who leads the tournament with 30. After day two, Vandermoten ranks T7 overall.
Harris shot a 74 on the day, finishing +2 on the day. He is also T7 overall and is second among individuals. Harris started his day on the 10th hole, continuing his par streak into the second round, shooting seven straight pars, adding a birdie on the Par-5 18th. He finshed the day with seven pars in his last nine holes.
Josef Hacker finished the day shooting a 73 and is currently T13. Hacker had a proficient start to his day, shooting par on the first five holes of the front nine, adding a quality birdie on the Par-5 6th. He shot par on the 7th and had a slight slip up on holes 8 and 9, having a bogey at each hole. Hacker got back on track, shooting par through the next two holes and adding a birdie on the Par-3 12th. Hacker concluded his day more consistent, shooting five straight pars before a hiccup bogey on the Par-5 18th.
Daniel Montalvo improved from his first day, shooting a 77. He shot twelve pars on the day, as well as an impressive birdie on the Par-4 5th hole. Filip Raza shot six pars on the front nine. He also shot a birdie the Par-5 13th. After a rough Par-4 14th hole, Raza went on to bounce back and birdie the next three holes. Jack Neill added eight pars on the day, scoring a birdie on the Par-4 14th, as well as an additional birdie on the Par-5 18th, to finish up his second round.
The Dolphins have been playing with consistency, with Harris, Vandermoten and Hacker all in the top-five of total pars in the tournament. The team finished with 55 pars and nine birdies.
The third and final round of The Carolina Cup will start Tuesday morning with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.
