Men's Golf Places Sixth at Lewis Chitengwa Memorial

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Jacksonville University men's golf wrapped the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial with a sixth-place finish on Tuesday.
 
The Dolphins' top finisher was Alexandre Vandermoten, who placed T15.
 
He matched his best round of the week with a 2-under 69. He collected five birdies on the day, starting with his second hole, and again on the Par-4 sixth to get back to 1-under. After a pair of bogeys bookending the turn, he immediately sank his third red number of the round. He ended the day with his best stretch of play, making four straight pars before sinking back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17 and closing with another par.
 
James Dulin shot JU's best round on Tuesday, shooting a 4-under 67 for the second-straight day. He shook off a bogey on hole one, and made birdies on four of his next five holes. He closed the front none with his fifth birdie. After the turn, he carded two more red numbers in his first three holes of the back and closed the day with four pars and one final birdie in his last six holes. His 3-under scoring on Par-4s was the best on the team and tied for fourth overall. He also made the most birdies for JU on the week, sinking 14 in total.
 
Joseph Sullivan started hot, with consecutive birdies on his first two holes. He added three pars on the front nine, and started the back with his third birdie on the Par-5 10th. He had five pars and a birdie in his last eight holes to wrap his third round. He shot 7-under on Par-5s, tied for the fifth-best in the field. He was second on the team with 12 birdies in the three rounds.
 
Filip Raza made four pars and two birdies in his first six holes, and made the turn at even. He added two more birdies and three additional pars on the back nine. Daniel Montalvo had three pars and two birdies on his first nine, before concluding the round with two more pars.
 
JU was the third best scoring team overall on Par-4s, shooting 3-under for the week. The four total eagles led all teams as well.
 
Next up is the ASUN Men's Golf Championship, set for April 25-27 at RTJ Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove in Mobile, Alabama.
