OAK RIDGE, Tenn.- The Jacksonville women's rowing team had four boats win medals over the weekend at the SIRA Regatta in Tennessee. The team overall finished in second at the Regatta in points and had the second most points overall for both men and women at the event.

"Today was a great overall day for our program," said head coach
Mike Lane. "We had athletes racing for the first time this season who gained valuable experience.  Everyone who hit the water this weekend learned a ton and went out and gave it everything they got.  Really proud of the team effort. "

The Dolphins sent seven boats to their respected finals. The Dolphins first and novice 8+ both took second place in the A final and Novice 8+ final respectively.  In the Varsity 4+ final, Jacksonville was one of two schools to send two boats to the final, and the Dolphins First and Second Varsity 4+ took third and fourth, respectively, split by just three seconds. In the Women's Novice 4+ final, Jacksonville sent a boat who finished in fourth, ahead of schools from Emory and High Point.

In the women's JV8 Final, Jacksonville finished in second with a time that was just five seconds behind Kansas State's boat. They had similar luck in the time-trial with the second fastest time behind Kansas State. In their semi-final, they claimed the first spot in the 'B' semi by more than 24 seconds.

To kick off the weekend, Jacksonville's Novice 4+ had the third fastest time in their time trial followed by a second-place finish in the semi-final to advance to the final. The Novice 8 finished second in their time trial, which was a race for lane positioning in the final.
Jacksonville was the only school to send three boats in the Varsity 4+ time trial race. JU's first and second Varsity 4+ took second and third respectively, though their time was separated by less than a second. The Dolphins third Varsity 4+ finished in eighth though all boats advanced to the semis. In the 'B' semi, Jacksonville's first and second Varsity 4 took first and second and were separated by the next closest boat by more than 20 seconds.
The Dolphins First Varsity 8+ had the third fastest time in the time trial and first in their 'B' semi to advance to the final. The Varsity 8+ had the second fastest time in the semis and beat out Embry-Riddle by more than 12 seconds in the semi.
"This is a great springboard into our final regular season race next weekend in Washington, DC," further added Lane. "We will see some great competition, so the lessons from this weekend will be put to the test.  Right now, we will reset and reload for our final chance to learn and grow as we prepare for the ultimate finish which is winning a 7
th MAAC Championship!"
