JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-The Jacksonville University women's rowing team is gearing up for their next event, the George Mason Invitational, which will take place in Fairfax, Virginia. After a strong showing at the SIRA Regatta last week, where they finished in second place, the team is poised for another successful performance.
The George Mason Invitational will feature tough competition from other strong collegiate rowing programs, but the Dolphins are up for the challenge. With their sights set on another top finish, the team is working hard in their preparations for the event.
"This has traditionally been a very competitive race for us," said head coach Mike Lane. "We are very excited to test our speed against many northern crews! We had a strong performance last weekend, and continue to make small adjustments looking to find the right combination. Right now is our time to test those changes as this is our final test before our MAAC Championship!"Â
At the SIRA Regatta, the team finished with an impressive second place overall finish, earning them a spot on the podium. They were led by strong performances from their varsity and novice eight, who took second in the A final.
The event, which starts at 10:10 AM on Sunday for the Dolphins, will continue throughout the day as boats compete for spots in their respected finals. The finals will begin inthe afternoon.
As they head into the George Mason Invitational, the Dolphins are looking to build on their success from last week and continue to improve their times and overall performances. With a strong roster of talented athletes and a dedicated coaching staff, the Jacksonville women's rowing team is poised for another impressive showing at the upcoming event.
