ATLANTA- Jacksonville University Women's Track and Field freshman Mariandree Chacon was named ASUN Freshman of the week, as announced Wednesday afternoon by the league office.
The Guatemala native set a personal record in the 100m at Embry-Riddle Invitational with a time of 11.42. Chacon is number one in the ASUN and 19th in the NCAA East Region Ranking.
"Mariandree showed that she is healthy and ready to run fast times. After analyzing Friday's semi-finals race, she made some adjustments and came back on Saturday to execute a better race. Her hard work and dedication are paying off. We are happy to see her evolution as a sprinter. She has just a few months of training with the team and it's going well." said Head Coach Diego Vela.
This is her second career ASUN weekly honor.
