CINCINNATI – Jacksonville University men's golf completed the first day of the Bearcat Invitational in 12th place on Monday.
The Dolphins were led by
Filip Raza, who is -1 and T13 after 36 holes at Coldwater Country Club.
Raza opened the day with a 1-under 70. After two bogeys in his first six holes, he sank consecutive pars and then three-straight birdies. Three more pars and a fourth birdie followed, before he closed his first 18 with two more pars and a bogey. Nine of his first 10 holes of the second round were pars. He birdied the par-4 sixth, bogeyed the next hole and came right back with another red number on the Par-5 eighth. He closed the day with three pars and one more birdie in his final five holes.
Alexandre Vandermoten picked up with the consistent par-making from a week ago, with 11 of his first 12 holes of the day all pars. Two of his final six holes were bogeys, making three total for the round, and he concluded his first 18 with a 3-over 74. He shaved three strokes off of his score in the afternoon, shaking off a tough stretch in which he bogeyed three-straight holes at one point in his first nine. He closed the day with three birdies and nine pars over his final 12 of the day.
Jack Neill had seven pars in his first nine, and scored his lone birdie of his first 18 on the Par-5 eighth. After four bogeys in his first seven holes of the second round, he locked in, sinking back-to-back birdies on his next two holes. After four straight pars, he added another red number on the Par-5 10th, and concluded the day with four more pars for a 1-over 72.
Daniel Montalvo started his day steady, with six-straight pars, before hitting a rough stretch, going +3 on his next two. He had two birdies, two bogeys and six pars over his final 10 of the first round. He parred the same six holes to start his second round, and again hit a tough spot about halfway through the round. He closed the day strong, birdieing three of his final six of the day.
Freshman
