JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Beach Volleyball program competed in day one of the Duval Duels with matches against Florida Gulf Coast and Mercer on Friday.

In the morning matchup, the Dolphins battled with the Eagles but could not secure a victory against FGCU. In the ones' pairing, Anna Erickson and Olivia Szyszkiewicz came out hot, winning their first set 21-15. The duo dropped the second set, but would finish strong in the third, winning 15-11 and winning the match.

In the afternoon matchup against Mercer, both teams battled rainy conditions. The Dolphins would fall short against the Bears, but Erickson and Szyszkiewicz would come up victorious for the second time on the day in the ones' pairings. Jacksonville will be back in action tomorrow with a match against Mercer again at 9:00 AM and an afternoon match with cross-town rival North Florida at 3:30 PM.
