History of the Jacksonville Lacrosse Classic
Generally known as a "hotbed" sport with talent traditionally rising from New York, Maryland, Virginia, and the Northeast, the Jacksonville Classic delivers an exciting, high-level lacrosse experience to a region of the country that would not typically get to experience it. However, with events like the Jacksonville Lacrosse Classic held in nontraditional regions, the sport continues to gain popularity across the country with each successive year, with additional hotbeds appearing in areas like Colorado, Texas, California, and of course, Florida.
Featuring some of the nation's top programs, the first four Jacksonville Lacrosse Classics from 2011 to 2014 were played at EverBank Field, home of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars.
Since then, the annual event has brought nationally-ranked opponents to Jacksonville and aided the goal of bringing lacrosse into the sporting conversation in Florida.
The Jacksonville Lacrosse Classic has been held 13 times, taking place annually since 2011, as Utah will make its third-ever appearance. The Utes last played in the Classic in the 2022 season.
