JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University Men's Lacrosse is proud to announce the official launch of the Jacksonville Lacrosse Advisory Board (J-LAB). Established this fall, the board introduces a formal, strategic approach to ensuring the long-term growth, success, and culture of the Dolphins' lacrosse program.
The J-LAB was conceived to bridge the gap between the program's storied past and its ambitious future. By leveraging the experience of former players, the board will focus on five key pillars of excellence:
-
Alumni Development: Strengthening the bond between graduates and the current team.
-
Mentorship: Providing career and life guidance for student-athletes.
-
New Program Initiatives: Identifying opportunities for innovation within the program.
-
Annual Event Planning: Spearheading gatherings that celebrate the Dolphin lacrosse community.
-
Program Vision Support: Assisting coaching staff in executing the long-term roadmap for the team.
For Head Coach John Galloway, the J-LAB represents the realization of a vision to protect the program's legacy through its most dedicated stakeholders.
"In my nine years at Jacksonville, I have come to understand the unwavering passion our alumni group has for the colors they had the honor to wear," said Galloway. "Coaches come and go, but alumni stand by the organization in the best and worst of times. I wanted to make sure that the future of this program was protected by the ones who loved it the most. The J-LAB was nothing more than a big idea of mine last year. Thanks to the men who stepped up, this will now serve as the due north for our program for the foreseeable future."
The board is currently comprised of ten distinguished alumni representing over a decade of Jacksonville Lacrosse history. Jake Ziegler '12, a founding member of the program, has been appointed as the board's first President.
"I am honored to lead our brand new Alumni Advisory Board," Ziegler said. "Starting the JU lacrosse program as a founding player was one of the greatest experiences of my life, and watching Coach Galloway lead this program to new heights has made me so proud. Our alumni network is getting bigger, stronger, and more mature—we are in a position now to connect and give back to this program. We can't wait to get started."
The board includes representatives from the program's earliest days to its most recent graduates:
