BATON ROUGE, La.- The Jacksonville Beach Volleyball team competed in day one of the Battle of the Bayou invitational, taking on host LSU in the afternoon matchup and Southeastern Louisiana in their second duel. The 'Phins were defeated by the Tigers early but bounced back with a sweep victory over the Lions to wrap up the day for the Dolphins.

The 'Phins fought valiantly but did not find a victory in their matchup against the host Tigers. Olivia Szyszkiewicz/Anna Erickson fell just short in their second set, losing a tight one 22-20. Three's pairing Kristina Nika/Katie Martinez and five's pairing Hayden Garnett/Miller Reames also lost a set by a pair of points in their respect duels.

Jacksonville bounced back in their duel against Southeastern Louisiana, winning each match in the duel to claim a sweep victory. One's pairing Olivia Szyszkiewicz/Anna Erickson and two's pairing Jenna McNamara/Emily Kubicsko each needed three sets to earn their victory but got it done in the third set. Szyszkiewicz/Erickson took the third and final set 15-12 and McNamara/Kubicsko won their third set handily 15-7. Twins' duo and three's pairing Claire Mrukowski/Meredith Mrukowski, four's pairing Katie Martinez/Kristina Nika and five's pairing Miller Reames/Hayden Garnett all earned a win in two sets.
