JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Jacksonville sophomore
Haley Yount was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region Team's Southeast Region as an honorable mention.
Yount is the first Jacksonville player to be named to an AVCA All-Region team, and she's the first JU player to be recognized as an All-Region or All-American player in the program's Division I history.
Yount was one of the best players in the country at her position, leading the NCAA for most of the season in hitting percentage and finishing in the top three. Her .454 hitting percentage is the second-highest single-season mark in school history and the highest in JU's Division I history.
She was named to the All-ASUN First Team, the first such honoree for Jacksonville since 2017. Through the course of the year, she was named ASUN Player of the Week twice and ASUN Defensive Player of the Week once.
Yount finished her sophomore season with 1.91 kills and 1.13 blocks per set, leading the ASUN in blocks and hitting percentage. She had six matches with at least 10 kills. In a win against FGCU, she recorded a 10-kill, 10-block double-double, a season high for blocks.
Her mix of production and efficiency was stellar all season. She recorded seven matches with at least nine kills while hitting at least .500. Defensively, she had at least five blocks in seven matches as well.
Yount is the only ASUN player from the Southeast Region to be recognized. The full AVCA All-Region teams can be found
