JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Jacksonville volleyball head coach
Alicia Manguiat signed a long-term extension to continue leading the Dolphins, the university announced Wednesday. The move comes after a historic 22-win season this fall that saw Manguiat named ASUN Coach of the Year.
"Alicia has done a remarkable job making our volleyball program a sustainable winner in just two short years," said Jacksonville Senior Vice President and Athletics Director
Alex Ricker-Gilbert. "Coach Manguiat made an impact as soon as she stepped on-campus. The focus will likely be on the outcomes of winning 22 matches and being named ASUN Coach of the Year, but how she pours into our student-athletes and how our student-athletes have bought into her leadership style is what stands out to me. We are fortunate to have Alicia leading our program, and I am thrilled that she will be at the helm long into the future."
Manguiat arrived in Jacksonville ahead of the 2024 season. In two seasons, she's posted a 37-22 record, the second-best mark of any JU coach in their first two years. Jacksonville is also 22-10 in ASUN play since Manguiat's arrival.
"I want to thank
Alex Ricker-Gilbert,
Rick Canter and our entire administration for their faith in me and our program. Our family is proud to call Jacksonville home, and the opportunity to lead this program has been a blessing," Manguiat said. "We've accomplished a lot in our short time here, but this is only the beginning. We're excited to continue pushing for excellence and developing a championship program."
Manguiat immediately turned the Dolphins around in her first year in 2024. Jacksonville went 9-19 the year before her arrival, and Manguiat led Jacksonville to a 15-14 mark in her first campaign at the helm.
That season marked JU's first winning season and first appearance in the ASUN Conference Tournament since 2017. Manguiat also coached standout transfer
Breanna McDonough to a spot on the All-ASUN Second Team, the school's first all-conference honoree in seven seasons.
Not to be outdone, Manguiat and the Dolphins built on a strong debut season with one of the best years in school history in 2025.
Jacksonville's 22-8 record in '25 was the school's best since 2013 and the sixth 20-win season in the program's Division I history. Early in the season, the Dolphins secured a marquee win over Pepperdine. Jacksonville took that momentum from non-conference play into a 12-4 conference record, tied for the fourth-most ASUN wins in a season in school history.
JU finished as the No. 2 seed in the ASUN regular season standings and made the semi-finals in the conference tournament.
In addition to Manguiat's Coach of the Year distinction, the Dolphins received several notable accolades. Sophomore
Haley Yount was named to an AVCA All-Region honorable mention, the first JU player to ever receive that distinction.
The Dolphins had four players receive All-ASUN plaudits in the postseason, as well.
