JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Multiple Jacksonville Baseball players received preseason recognition from Perfect Game and D1Baseball.com, highlighting the program's depth and talent entering the 2025 season.
Perfect Game Preseason Honors
Perfect Game named four Dolphins to its Preseason All-Conference Team, including
Richard Long as the Preseason Pitcher of the Year and
Sammy Mummau as the Preseason Freshman of the Year.
Perfect Game Preseason All-Conference Selections
- Jaden Bastian, Outfielder
Bastian concluded the 2024 season with a .263 batting average, six home runs, and 25 RBIs. The sophomore is known for his defensive tools and a strong throwing arm. He's shown consistent improvement in his bat-to-ball skills during fall practice.
- Chandler Howard, Designated Hitter
Howard posted a .347 batting average in 2024, contributing five home runs and 38 RBIs. His ability to deliver extra-base hits and perform under pressure highlights his role as a key bat for the 'Phins.
- Richard Long, Starting Pitcher/Preseason Pitcher of the Year
Long, who recorded a 3.80 ERA over 83 innings with 62 strikeouts and a 62:28 strikeout-to-walk ratio, was named the Preseason Pitcher of the Year. His ability to effectively utilize a three-pitch mix and command all quadrants of the zone makes him a force on the mound.
- Sammy Mummau, Preseason Freshman of the Year
Mummau, a transfer Redshirt-Freshman infielder, earned the title of Preseason Freshman of the Year. He has demonstrated strong defensive capabilities and a mature approach at the plate, positioning him as an immediate contributor for the 'Phins.
