JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In the first meet of the outdoor season, Jacksonville took to the track at UNF for the annual River City Relays competition.
The meet came just days after Jacksonville's
impressive showing at the ASUN Indoor Championships, so JU used the tournament as a tune-up for the long outdoor season ahead.
In terms of the long-distance events, Jacksonville got solid showings across the board.
The 1500 saw
Annah Priyadi take home seventh with a time of 5:02.00. Right behind her was
Lexi Schwartz coming in eighth with a time of 5:05.54. In 10
th was
Alexis Holmes and in 11
th was
Emma DeRosa.
Holmes finished just outside of the podium in the 5000, earning a fifth place spot with a time of 18:53.05.
Schwartz and Priyadi were again neck-and-neck, this time in the 800, with Schwartz finishing in seventh ahead of Priyadi in eighth.
Eryn Field (ninth) and
Emily Haney (10th) rounded out the four consecutive Dolphin finishers in the event.
The shorter distance events were equally as impressive for the 'Phins, with a pair of first place finishes.
Joy Whittington claimed the top spot in the 400 hurdles, running away with the event behind a time of 1:05.49. Competing in the 4x100, Jacksonville took home first as well.
McKayla Francis,
Mariandree Chacon,
Cassidra Thompson and
Cassie Thompson claimed the gold with a time of 45.05.
Freshman
Sanaa Geter secured fifth in the 100 hurdles behind a 14.79 pace. In the field,
Eva Bellot impressed with a second-place podium finish in the high jump.
