OAK RIDGE, Tenn. --- The Jacksonville women's rowing team finished its competition at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta Saturday. The weekend was highlighted by sophomore Vivianna Coppa's victory in the 1x A Final.

The Dolphins performed well in the early stages of the regatta Friday. It started with the Novice 8+, which solidified its place in Saturday's final with a 6:51.692, third-place finish in the opening time trial.

The Novice 8+ finished second with a time of 8:06.850 Friday night to secure a place in the A final Saturday.

The Varsity 4+ earned a place in Saturday's B Final with a fifth-place, 8:25.752 finish.

Coppa went off first Saturday in the 1x A Final, besting the field with a 9:16.382 finish. She defeated the next closest racer by 1.6 seconds to bring silverware back home to Duval County.
 

The Novice 8+ rowed next, finishing in fifth place with a 7:44.153 time in the A Final. 

The Varsity 4+ concluded the regatta for JU. The Dolphins improved on their preliminary showing on Friday, finishing third with an 8:08.129 finish --- more than a 17 second boost from the initial race.

"Overall, I think the weekend went really well.  All of the crews performed admirably and really outdid themselves. Everyone appeared happy with their performances.

The Novice 8 advanced to the Grand Final narrowly missed 3rd in the last 200m by 1.6 secs. The 1v4 advanced to the B finals and improved their time by 17 secs from the semis while closing massive gaps on other crews. Then there was Viv who placed 1st, taking home the Cup Trophy.

It was a long, exhausting weekend, but it was totally worth it. Lots of great lessons learned and a very promising outcome four weeks out from conference."

The Dolphins will continue their push towards the postseason next week at the Lake Wheeler Invitational in Raleigh, NC. The event is scheduled for April 23 through April 26. Race details will be announced in the lead up to the event.
