Jacksonville Men’s Basketball Awarded NABC Academic Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Jacksonville University Men's Basketball Team has been named a recipient of the National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Excellence Award, the NABC announced Thursday.

As a squad, the Dolphins held a team GPA of over 3.0 for the academic year with two upperclassmen players maintaining a GPA of greater than 3.5.

Junior guard Maximus Fuentes and graduate guard Jakari Spence were honored individually by the NABC for their successes in the classroom, both earning a place on the NABC Honors Court.

The NABC annually awards teams across the country for success in the classroom. The Coaches Association named almost 400 programs nationwide to their Team Excellence list and over 2,400 individual student-athletes to the Honors Court.

In conference, Spence was named to the ASUN All-Academic Team for boasting a GPA over 3.8 in his Master of Organizational Leadership program.

Last year, JU basketball earned an invite to the College Basketball Invitational postseason tournament and, along with Spence, had two more players make All-ASUN lists.

The team has also announced the sale of season ticket packages, which can be purchased HERE. The full schedule for the upcoming season will be released in the coming weeks.
