JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Atlantic Sun conference announced its preseason awards Thursday, and Jacksonville senior outside hitter
Breanna McDonough was among the honorees.
The second-year Dolphin was named to the preseason All-ASUN team, one of seven players to earn such honors. Last year in her first season in Jacksonville, she earned All-ASUN Second Team honors as one of the top hitters in the league.

She recorded 376 kills across 96 sets of action. Her 3.92 kills per set were second in the league and most among any returners in the ASUN. She also contributed on defense, recording 127 digs, good for sixth on the team.
McDonough had several standout performances throughout last season as she ascended to star status for the Dolphins. Her breakout game came against Southern on Sept. 6 when she recorded 16 kills.
The Tampa-native recorded her first double-double of the year against Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 21, scoring 19 kills and 13 digs. As Jacksonville rolled into conference play, McDonough further started to dominate.
She recorded double-digit kills in her first 13 games of ASUN play, including a season-high 26 kills against Stetson on Oct. 11 and her second double-double of the year against Stetson on Oct. 5.
McDonough was joined on the preseason All-ASUN team by Lipscomb's Courtney Jones and Sophia Hudepohl, Central Arkansas's Laci Bohannan, Caylan Koons and Alexis McDaniel and Eastern Kentucky's Carson Ledford. The full slate of awards can be found

In the preseason coaches poll, Jacksonville was picked fifth. Lipscomb was picked first. In 2024 Dolphins made the ASUN playoffs for the first time since 2017, and they look to build on that success in year two under head coach Alicia Manguiat. The Dolphins open their 2025 campaign next week with a three-game trip in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The season starts with a tilt against Alabama-Birmingham at 11 a.m. EST on Aug. 29.
