JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University men's soccer team secured a dominant 2-0 victory over UTRGV on Saturday night at Southern Oak Stadium, extending their win streak to two games. The Dolphins' offense came alive in the first half with goals from Felix Kogler and Matias Tobon, while the defense held firm for a clean sheet.
Kogler opened the scoring for Jacksonville in the 19th minute, finding the back of the net after a precise assist from Tobon. The Dolphins continued to press their advantage, and Tobon doubled the lead in the 34th minute, this time assisted by Dante Wright. The two goals proved to be all the scoring the Dolphins would need, as they controlled the tempo of the match and kept UTRGV's offense in check.
Jacksonville's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Christian Sekanina, was in top form, limiting UTRGV to just six total shots, with only two on target. Sekanina made two key saves to preserve the shutout. The Dolphins' offense, in contrast, was highly efficient, putting eight of their 10 shots on goal.
The victory improves Jacksonville's record to 2-2-0 on the season.
