Claire Mrukowski was named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week after a strong showing at the Dolphin Volleyball Classic this past weekend. She is the third different Dolphin to earn ASUN Player of the Week honors this season, joining sophomore
Haley Yount and senior
Breanna McDonough.
Mrukowski led the team to a 2-1 record on the weekend, notching five-set wins over Jacksonville State and Florida A&M. She recorded a team-best 36 kills, averaging 2.77 kills per set.
She led the way in each of JU's wins, totaling 14 kills against the Gamecocks and a season-high 16 kills against the Rattlers in the tournament finale. She was also among the team's most efficient scorers, hitting .384 for the weekend.
For her performances, she was named to the All-Tournament team, alongside Yount.
Mrukowski is having a breakout junior campaign, becoming a reliable weapon on Jacksonville's right side. She's tied for second on the team with 2.49 kills per set and third in overall kills with 102. She's also a key part of the Dolphins formidable block, ranking fourth on the team with 19 total blocks.
The Dolphins ended non-conference play with a 9-3 record, their best mark before conference play since 2013. They'll open up conference play Friday against the Queens Royals. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
