LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Jacksonville Dolphins concluded their indoor track and field season in stellar fashion, earning third place in the conference overall at the ASUN Indoor Championships Saturday.
Jacksonville finished with a team score of 91, finishing behind UNF in second and UCA in first place.
On the first day of competition,
Ma'Kala Davis earned a gold in the long jump with teammate
Julia Sue-Kam-Ling earning silver in the event to set JU up for an even more explosive second day.
The Dolphins earned another pair of top honors Saturday, with
Savannah Chadic leading the program to a first-place finish individually in the 400m dash. After qualifying first in the prelims, Chadic outpaced her preliminary time with a blazing fast personal best time of 53.93 seconds. She beat out a runner from Austin Peay for first by 0.09 seconds for gold. A Dolphin has now won the 400m dash in back to back years at the ASUN Indoor Championships.Â
Davis again added to her trophy cabinet in the field, earning gold in the triple jump. Davis took a leap of 12.67 meters to claim first overall. It was not only a season best for the sophomore but the 71
st best jump over the course of the entire D1 indoor season. Davis has now won the indoor triple jump twice in her career, previously winning in 2024.
In the team 4x400 relay, JU also earned a gold medal behind a 3:42.78 time. It was the 91
st fastest time in D1 competition this year and a season best for the program. Jacksonville has now gone back to back years winning the 4x400 indoor relay.Â

Mariandree Chacon. Chacon set a new personal best time with her 23.75 finish. Just outside of the podium was Chadic and her PB time of 24.24, good for fourth.
In the 60m hurdles,
Joy Whittington secured silver with a PB time of 8.55. She beat her preliminary time by almost a full tenth of a second.
The Dolphins' 91 total points narrowly edged Lipscomb out of second place, with the Bisons finishing with 89 total team points.Â
By the end of the Indoor Championship, Jacksonville had secured four team golds, two silvers and a bronze while finishing third overall.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"The team had an amazing final day of competition," first-year head coach Diego Vela said. "Joy and Sanaa continued their amazing performances.
Mariandree Chacon finished 6th place in the 60m dash.
Savannah Chadic took the gold in the 400m with a personal best and
Kemaj Moore set a new PB adding a 7th place. A few minutes later,

Savannah Chadic, and
Kemaj Moore got 15 points for the team in the 200m Finals. Mariandree was 2nd place, Savannah 4th place, and Kemaj 7th place. It was a great weekend for the team. All of the ladies did their best effort at the track and in the stands cheering for their teammates. I also want to give thanks for the support of sport supervisor
